Best Practices, Data Sets and Scenario Analysis

This intensive one day, hands-on workshop will benefit any professional who is focused on improving their Excel skills and efficiencies. We welcome all backgrounds and skill levels of Excel users.

Virtual Learning Option

Course Pricing

  • Early Registration: $1,100 per day (register at least 14 days in advance)
  • Standard Registration: $1,250 per day

Course Outline

Excel Best Practices:

  • Basic Excel setup including iterations & calculations settings
  • Excel best practices, including common “shortcut” keys and other efficiency tips
  • Best practices for building formulas (auto sum, filling, anchoring)
  • Customizing toolbars in Excel (including adding icons to your toolbar)
  • Auditing formulas and cell references

Working with Client Data:

  • Text to columns
  • Text functions within Excel: LEFT, RIGHT, UPPER, LOWER, CONCATENATE

Analyzing Data:

  • Lookup functions: VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP
  • INDEX and MATCH Functions
  • Analyzing data using SUMIF, COUNTIF, and Nested IF functions
  • Pivot Tables

Scenario Analysis:

  • Sensitivity analysis including data tables
  • Conditional formatting
  • Scenario analysis using CHOOSE & OFFSET functions
  • Utilizing “named” cells

Macros and User Friendly Tools:

  • Introduction to macros
  • Introduction to Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Creations of basic print macros and editing of basic VBA code
  • Insertion of a “print button”

Case Study Exercise:

  • Designed to emphasize and reinforce skills taught during seminar

Beyond having some basic Excel familiarity, there are no prerequisites.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations up to 14 days before the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 14 days of a course will not be refunded. TTS reserve the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel a course. If TTS cancels a course, payments are refunded in full.
